Yes. Fit to Lead is fully funded by a COALAR grant, meaning there is no cost to participants.
We ask for a commitment of around 2 hours per week from March to November. This includes completing class content, attending coaching sessions, and taking part in mentoring and program events. You’ll also need a valid Working with Children Check (the volunteer check is free). Sport experience is helpful, but not required.
Fit to Lead is delivered as a hybrid program. The theoretical content and mentoring sessions are delivered online, allowing flexibility for participants. However, some modules and all practical coaching activities must be completed in person, as participants will be co-coaching a real Adelaide-based team. In-person sessions will take place in the evenings to support participants who work or study during the day.
Participants complete 30 hours of blended learning between March and June 2026, including online modules on physical preparation, nutrition and wellbeing, tactics, and leadership, alongside practical coaching with a real Adelaide-based team.
No. Participants are paired with another Fit to Lead participant to co-coach a team, encouraging peer learning and shared leadership.
